Petition to Chinese President Hu Jintao: As citizens around the world, we call on you to show restraint and respect for human rights in your response to the protests in Tibet, and to address the concerns of all Tibetans by opening meaningful dialogue with the Dalai Lama. Only dialogue and reform will bring lasting stability. China's brightest future, and its most positive relationship with the world, lies in harmonious development, dialogue and respect.

This December 10th, show your solidarity with Tibetans inside Tibet by organizing an activity in your local chapter calling for human rights in Tibet. Tibet support groups around the world are planing creative actions on this important day. Make your mark and show your chapter's commitment to seeing the Tibet crisis end. We suggest the following actions:
Leaving Fear Behind Screening

Screen the most powerful statement from Tibetans inside Tibet before the March uprising. Lay Tibetans from monks, to children to nomads speak openly of their suffering under Chinese occupation. Now that Tibetans are silenced by China's brutal crackdowns, this is the last free expression we have of the Tibetan people's desire for freedom.
It's a good idea to invite any political allies (other campus groups, politicians etc). Since this film is only 20 mins, follow it up with a discussion with the audience or a question/answer period.
ITSN (International Tibet Support Network) has prepared the following materials for us to use:
1) Advocacy letter that you can have the audience sign
2) Posters for the movie showing (Color LFB poster, B&W LFB poster)
3) How to do a screening handout
4) 50th anniversary campaign handout
